ADU Furniture
Well, one year after completion, we finally got our official (i.e. not hodgepodge – will get to it later) ADU furniture – namely the bed frame, nightstand, and a stool for sitting.
When we first finished the backyard ADU (see our initial ADU plans), we used some extra items we had (from when we moved to Sacramento) and combined it with our organic latex mattress.
And then about six months ago, we got the counter stools, so it’s been a slooooow process. We’re still hoping to get some kind of small carpet for the side of the bed for those chilly mornings, but otherwise, we’re pretty set for now.
ADU Furniture
In terms of the bedroom furniture, we wanted something classic with style – and it needed to be fairly slim. Because of our needs, we just have one nightstand, as you can see, but we could fit in two if we ever change our minds on this.
Ok. Let’s get to details. The furniture is part of a mid-century set, which is not usually my style, but this feel updated, not outdated.
The bed, in acorn, has a slim headboard as well as a foot piece. The nightstand is available in 2 sizes. We have the 18″ and we opted for the charging station to keep things clean. It includes 2 USB ports and 2 standard plugs. It’s quite lovely and it was super easy to put together.
And then for a bench…it’s actually a dining bench – still in the Acorn. The bench designed for the furniture set would have been too big for our small ADU space with only a padded top option. Not only was this dining version slimmer, it was less expensive!

On the topic of sustainability, this whole line is made from FSC certified wood, finished with a water-based finishes, and is manufactured in Fair Trade Certified factories.

Coincidentally enough (no it wasn’t planned), our stools are from the same store! Our inspirational design for the cabinetry and tile had stools with this look. We looked for months online to find our stools, and we just kept coming back to these!
