Ética Jeans Review

Etica Jeans Review

As a self-proclaimed denim aficionado, I take good jeans seriously. When you start looking into sustainable living, you’ll quickly learn how polluting the fashion industry is and that denim is among the worst for its use of water. Ugly Cry! But never fear, there are denim brands doing good and my favorite among them is just as fabulous as those that aren’t so eco-friendly. So here’s my Ética jeans review!

Ética Jeans Review

You can see my first pair of Ética jeans in this high waist denim shorts outfit. I’ve always found shorts to be one of the most difficult things for me to buy. I want them stylish and comfortable but not too short or too long. Apparently a nearly impossible request.

I was scouring the Nordstrom website searching for any pair of denim shorts that would do – sustainable or otherwise – I was getting desperate. I found those high waist shorts. Not only did they look perfect, but I glanced at the materials and it was organic cotton and recycled elastane. I probably fell out of my chair from excitement. Not only were the chic, they were sustainable.

So I bought them and they are still my favorite summer shorts and I will cry many tears when I can’t wear them anymore!

Not long after, I got the dark washed jeans pictured here. And when I tell you that they’re also my favorite jeans in cooler weather at least 3 years in, please trust that I’m in love with this brand’s jeans. I honestly only have one complaint in this Ética jeans review…

Sustainable Denim Materials

You can learn more about materials (and get more brand options) in my roundup of sustainable jeans brands. Basically, however, jeans are made of cotton and some kind of stretchy material (thank goodness)! What’s the best version of these? Organic cotton, regenerative cotton, recycled cotton, and materials like tencel are best for that. And then for the stretch – a recycled material.

Beyond they, they have a zero waste initiative, developed their InCloud technology to reduce water consumption by 90% and energy consumption by 70% compared to the rest of the denim industry. They’re also follow strict ethical conduct and invest in the employees in their Mexico factory. Learn more about the company.

Ok. So they’re ethical and sustainable, but are Ética jeans good jeans?? YES!! As I mentioned above, the pairs of their denim I have are great – even a few years in. The fit is always comfortable with just the right amount of stretch but never baggy. They hold up to all my wear (toddler to 5-year old mom functional status)!

In fact, when we lost our luggage for 7 days in Edinburgh, I was wearing these jeans the entire time and never got sick of them. So when it came time to make my Ireland packing list, of course these jeans were one of the 2 pairs I brought for our entire stay. I just love them.

Their jeans styles run true to size and don’t stretch over time.

My only complaint is that many of their styles are just too trendy for my taste. I’ve found that Nordstrom, however, carries their more classic silhouettes, so now I just know where to look. That’s it. That’s my only one negative (if we can even call it that) in my Ética jeans review. Shop them here!

Here are their current offering in my style…
